Not everyone is excited about AI
30% of consumers don't care about AI ... until we will
Welcome to the short Thanksgiving week Launch Key 🚀! We’re adding to the craziness by packing up our home of the last 25 years for a cross-state move. The last dumpster is in the driveway.
AI is the headliner in many stories, but it’s of no use when emptying a house. 😉
Like most news, the reality is not as advertised. Sure, Silicon Valley is investing at a high clip, but many of us are still wait-and-see on AI.
This week’s issue is a reminder that you don’t need to be a pioneer, but you do need to at least test possibilities.
Let's get into it.
Comment below and let me know if we’re on the right track.

Pull to Eject
While investment bankers throw more than 30% of their money into AI startups, the general public is still lukewarm.
I’m not some tech luddite, I’ve just been burned by early versions before.
Many times.
I started buying Apple gear in 1987, but my brand loyalty cost me both hard-earned cash and wasted time on things like the Newton, Homepod and firewire.
Apparently I’m not the only one who’s been burned. A recent Statistica report, shows that 30% of consumers don’t care about AI.
“While big tech companies invest billions of dollars to build the infrastructure necessary to run large language models, not everybody is convinced that AI will be as transformational as many people currently believe – especially from a consumer perspective.”
The Disruption is real
Big thinkers are telling us the disruption will be real.
Marc Andreessen thinks high value professional services might have their costs cut a thousand-fold because of AI. He gives 3 excellent examples:
management consulting
legal services
medical diagnostics
His point is that AI could offer strategic insights and solutions at dramatically reduced rates. And the implication is that it will democratize many other professional services that are currently expensive and out of reach for individuals and small business. Pay attention: millions of high pay white collar gigs have the potential for evaporation.
How about cleaning up the bloat of government?
We just voted for big change and I for one am extremely interested in what DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) might actually accomplish.
A simple solution is using Grok to read congressional bills. Never again can a politician say, “We need to sign the bill to find out what’s in the bill.” We will know exactly what’s in there in about 5 minutes. I’m sure that scares the bureaucracy to death.
AI should be able to give us real numbers in near real time - on important things like jobs, inflation, even census data. We wont have to wait 60 days for revisions.
In his recent newsletter, Launch Key subscriber Brooks Lockett talked about learning 1 or 2 tools and experimenting with your own tasks. Brooks point was that early adopters have the ability to build a moat around their business. They don’t have to be years ahead, they just need to be ahead.
I’m not an AI denier.
This year, I have written a number of issues about how AI should be leveraged:
But like all new tech before it – and all to come – the inputs are the key. And only human inputs can really make AI fantastic.
So what are you waiting for?
